The Yorkshire Terrier

The Yorkshire is a long-haired toy terrier with a blue and tan coat parted on the face and from the base of the skull to the end of the tail. The body is neat, compact and well proportioned. The dog's high head carriage and confident manner should give the appearance of vigor and self-importance.

Puppies are born black and tan and are normally darker in body color, showing an intermingling of black hair in the tan until they are matured.

Grooming must be done on a regular basis. Although the coat is easy to care for it is time consuming and necessary in order to keep your dog in healthy condition. The Yorkshire Terrier is an independent dog, but a devoted companion. Despite his small size he is more than willing to act as a guardian for his master.
