The Welsh Terrier

The Welsh Terrier was developed about 300 years ago in North Wales to hunt fox, rats and badger and is still used on farms today to control vermin.

Welsh terriers are very loyal to their family, but are wary of strangers and will bark to announce their arrival.

They are intelligent and do well in obedience training. They might chase cats if not introduced to them early, but may be aggressive with other dogs. They do well with children if treated with respect.

Welsh terriers can be possessive of their food bowls and toys. They can adapt the apartment living as long as they are given enough exercise. They are energetic dogs and love to run and play. They need to be brushed twice a week and trimmed every three months.

Height: 15-20 inches
Weight: 19-22 lbs.
Life Span: 10-14 yrs.
