The Shih Tzu

The Shih Tzu is a descendant from Tibet's Lhasa Apso, possible as a result of being crossed with the Pekingese after it was introduced into China. They were valued companions in Imperial China.

Shih Tzus are outgoing, affectionate and loyal companions that respond well to training. They love children, and get along with cats and other animals and strangers. They are well suited to apartment living.

They must be brushed daily to avoid severe matting. Most Shih Tzus are satisfied with a daily walk and an occasional romp.

Height: 8-11 inches
Weight: 9-16 lbs.
Life Span: 12-14 yrs.
