The Great Pyrenees

Also known as the Pyrenean Mountain Dog, the Great Pyrenees was used for centuries to protect sheep, goats, and cattle from wolves and bears in the Pyrenees Mountains of France.

They are calm, gentle and loyal dogs. They are also independent and need early obedience training. Pyrenees are territorial, and protective, and may be wary of strangers and unknown dogs, so they make good watchdogs.

The Great Pyrenees must be brushed daily to prevent matting. They needs good daily exercise and are best suited to suburbs and country.

Height: 25-32 inches
Weight: 90-125 lbs.
Life Span: 11-14 yrs.
