The Papillon

The Papillon was developed in the 17th century as a companion dog for European royalty. They are friendly and gentle and they do very well in obedience school. They are called "papillon" which is the French for "butterfly" because of the shape and apparence of their hears.

They are intelligent, playfull, friendly and adaptable, but they might become possessive of their owners. Papillons love other animals and children, as long as they are introduce to them early.

Papillons are ideal for apartment living and for people with sedentary lives, as they do not require a lot of exercice. Like any dog, they benefit from regular exercice. They need to be brushed two to three times a week and trimmed every three months.

Height: 8-11 inches
Weight: 8-10 lbs.
