The Kuvasz

 

The Kuvasz's trace its ancestors in Tibet in the 13th century. The breed was after developed by the Hungarian aristocracy from the 15th through 19th centuries for guarding, hunting, and herding. The name Kuvasz comes from the Turkish kawasz, which means "armed guard."

Kuvaszok (plural of Kuvasz) are aggressive and independent. They have an extremely strong instinct to protect the children in their families and are wary of strangers, so they make very good watchdogs.

They are good with cats and other animals in their households. Early socialization and obedience training is of prime importance.

Kuvaszok should be brushed twice a week. This aggressive breed needs a lot of exercise and opportunities to run.

Weight: 70-115 lbs.
Life Span: 10-12 yrs.
