The Komondor

 

The komondor was use to protect livestock in Hungary since the 16th century.

Komondorok (plurial of Komondor) are playful and completely devoted to their families, but are not recommanded with young children or small animals. Early socialization and obedience classes are mandatory for these independent and powerful dogs, which can be stuborn sometime.

This dog need an experience and firm owner to control their dominance.

The komondor needs to be bathed every month because they can become quite smelly. Drying can takes several days. Brushing is not necessary, but the cords need to be separated weekly, which can take one to two hours. Trimming the cords one to two times a year is helpful as shown in the photography. Komondorok need space and several long daily walks.

Weight: 70-120 lbs.
Life Span: 10-12 yrs.
