The Jack Russell Terrier
They can adapt to a variety of environments, but they are bred to be hunting dogs. These little energetic dogs require a lot of human attention, outdoor activity, exercise, discipline and an understanding and acceptance of their hunting nature. They can be aggressive with other dogs, so caution and supervision is required. Their natural hunting instinct also brings out aggression towards other small animals such as cats, rabbits and other pets. Outdoor activity and exercise is essential, but they should not be permitted to roam unattended at all time, as because of their hunting instinct they can go chasing small or big animals as they are afraid of nothing. The Jack Russell can make a terrific family pet, but they will not tolerate abusive child. This should be carefully considered, particularly with children under the age of six. It is recommanded that those interested in the breed to thoroughly study all aspects of the Jack Russell, its special characteristics and needs, and to make a careful evaluation of whether this unique breed will fit into your lifestyle.
