The Siberian Husky

The Siberian husky was bred more than 3,000 years ago by nomadic Siberian tribes to be a sled dog. It was brought to North America by fur traders around the turn of the 20th century.

Siberian huskies are very gentle, friendly and playful, and they love human companionship. They're not easy to train, however obedience classes must begin early.

They can live in the city but do best with experienced dog owners who live in the country. Huskies adore children and other dogs, but may chase cats. They also like to roam.

Eyes may be brown, blue, one of each, or blue and brown in the same eye. The tail is well furred. Huskies need to be brushed a few times a week. They love long walks, and backpacking trips, and need to run off-leash in secure areas. Origins

Height: 20-23 inches
Weight: 35-60 lbs.
